THE COLOUR OF THE WIND…………POCAHONTAS

Standard

One of the best princesses there could be. What makes it even better is that is based on true events. Nothing better than a happy ever after.

Pocahontas is the daughter of the Chief of a tribe of indians in Virgina. She is a free-spirited type of girl who loves to explore. One day she goes to Grandmother Willow who is a talking tree and tells her about a dream that she had about a spinning arrow and she doesn’t know what it means. She goes running after hearing something and sees that it is ships coming to their shores.

She goes back to her village and her father tells her that she is to marry Kocoum but she does not love him or want to marry him. Pocahontas being the wild one that she has always been goes to look at the settlers and she follows a man who is named John Smith. John has the same type of spirit as she does so they have an automatic connection. They begin to talk and learn more about each other. John reveals that they are there so they can dig up gold but Pocahontas says that there is nothing like that there.

They begin to sneak away from their people to see each other. Radcliffe is the man who brought John to Virgina along with the rest of the crew and is a very cruel man who cares for nothing and no one but himself. He refuses to accept that there is no gold there and is convinced that the indians are hiding it from him. Pocahontas and John meet to discuss how they can get their people to understand one another. Kocoum follows Pocahontas and John’s friend Thomas follows John. When Kocoum sees John kiss Pocahontas he loses it and attacks. Thomas panics and shoots Kocoum. It is then that John gets Thomas to run and then the indians capture John and sentence him for Kocoum being shot.

At dawn, The indians lead John to rock cliff to be killed by the Chief and Radcliffe and his men charge to the same point to retrieve their man. Pocahontas makes in time to put herself down in front of John to save him. She explains that she loves him and that hatredĀ  brings nothing but war and pain. The Chief throws down his stick and accepts his daughters words. Radcliffe looks at this as an opportunity to attack but his men see that the indians are not there to fight. Radcliffe takes a gun and shoots at the Chief. John sees this and jumps in front of him and gets shot. The men grab Radcliffe and tie him up.

The men load up the ships to go back to England to put Radcliffe up for trial and to get John back for medical help. John asks Pocahontas to go with him back to England but she says that her place there with her people. And they lived happily ever after.

A truly beautiful and inspirational film. A must see for everyone, child and adult alike. Full of great music and great characters. 10 out of 10.

THE MOST FAMOUS LAUGH EVER IN……………A GOOFY MOVIE

Standard

Who doesn’t love Disney’s famous Goofy. He is one of the most comical characters ever created in my opinion. He is part of the Fab Five and he is definitely fab. I love that he was given his own movie.

Goofy’s son, Max, is a young teenager who is trying to get the girl of his dreams to notice him. Goofy feels that his son is growing further and further away from him so to fix things he decides to bring Max on a fishing trip to Lake Destiny just as his dad had done when he was a kid. To Max’s dismay, he is made go on this fishing trip after promising the girl of his dreams Roxanne, that he would take her on a date. He goes by Roxanne’s house before leaving town and tells her that he is actually going to Los Angeles to the Powerline concert and will be on stage with him.

Max and Goofy head out on their trip and it is already a disaster as Max makes it clear he doesn’t want to be there and Goofy tries to make it like it was when he was a child. Hr plays the same games and plays the same songs. The trip is not going how Goofy had planned so he takes Max to a opposum theme park where Max is humiliated. They go camping where Goofy shows Max how to do the perfect cast. They run into PJ, Max’s best friend and his dad Pete at the campsite. PJ tells Max that he should change the route of the map to LA, since he was made navigator for the trip he could trick Goofy into going to LA instead of Lake Destiny. Max does that and Goofy finds out.

On the continuation of their trip Max makes the final decision on what way to go and takes the turn to LA. Goofy is angry and they get out of the car and the car ends up rolling down a hill. They go run after it and end up floating down river. They come to waterfall and goofy falls down it but |Max saves himĀ  by using the perfect cast and they go to safety. Max explains why he had done what he did and Goofy understands. He tells Max that he will get him to the concert and get him on stage so he won’t look like a liar to Roxanne.

They get to Los Angeles and they sneak into the concert. They both accidentally end up on stage with Powerline and doing the moves for the perfect cast which turns into a very popular dance. Roxanne and everyone at school sees Max on tv while watching the live performance of the concert. They get back home and Max goes and tells Roxanne the truth about his trip and they agree to go out on a date together. Goofy and Max gained a new and better relationship.

This film is very good and would be loved by all children. I wold give this film 8 out of 10.

I WISH EVERY BABYSITTER WAS LIKE THIS IN………….MRS DOUBTFIRE

Standard

This is a film that everyone has to see and everyone loves. You cannot help but laugh out loud throughout the entire film.

Daniel is a dad of three and an actor. He loves his children more than anything and takes his morals serious. He quits a job that he doesn’t agree with and brings his children home to throw his son a birthday party. When the party gets out of hand with farm animals and a complete mess, his wife, Miranda, is called home and tells Daniel that she wants a divorce. The children overhear this and things get put in motion. Daniel moves out his children aren’t happy.

When they go to court to sort out custody of their children, Miranda is granted temporary full custody due to Daniel not having a job or a house of his own at this point. He doesn’t take the news well as he has never been away from his children for more than a day since they were born. When Miranda comes by to pick up the kids at the end of one of Daniel’s days, she lets him see the advertisement that she is putting out for a housekeeper. He changes the number so that no one can apply for the job. Because of his experience in acting and is very talented with doing voices, he rings a couple of times to show how hard it is to find a normal housekeeper. He eventually rings and behaves completely normal and is asked for an interview.

To be the housekeeper without Miranda knowing that it is he ex husband, he must disguise himself as an English woman in her 60’s. He goes to his brother who is a make up artist and the transformation is remarkable. Daniel goes to the house and even convinces his own kids that he is a woman. Daniel gets the job and begins working as Mrs Doubtfire, the housekeeper. He manages to get the children’s grades up and for them to have a better appreciation for their mother and everything they have. Miranda begins to see an old flame of hers which does not go down well with Daniel so he tries to sabotage things between them.

Daniel also had to have another job for the judge so he got a job at a studio lot. He thought her would be introducing the films on air but it turned out he was to pack and ship them. One day when he thought that he was alone, he went into one of the studios and was pretending to host a tv show. His boss seen the whole thing and loved it so wanted to give him his own show. His two eldest children end up discover that their housekeeper is actually their dad. They promise to keep it a secret so that they can see their dad everyday.

For Miranda’s birthday, her boyfriend Stu takes her and the children and even Mrs Doubtfire out for dinner at the same time that Daniel is supposed to meet with his boss to discuss his show. Daniel tries to go from one table to the next but when Stu chokes after Daniel tried to give him an allergic reaction and when Daniel tries to help him, his face mask comes off and his true identity is revealed. Daniel is told by the judge that he can have supervised visitations and that mental help should be made available to him. Miranda visits Daniel at his set to talk about their children and to say that they watch it everyday. When the kids go to the door to see their new babysitter, they are pleasantly surprised to see that it is their dad. Miranda and Daniel worked out a new plan for visitations which leaves everyone happy.

This film is full of fun and laughter. It is Robin Williams at his best. Robin Williams plays Mrs Doubtfire and does a phenomenal job. Sally Field plays the role of Miranda. No question at all it is amazing and deserves 10 out of 10.

WHAT TIME IS IT, TIME FOR………THE BREAKFAST CLUB

Standard

One of the best films made in the 80’s. I don’t know how someone could not like it.

Five teenagers are to sit in detention for the entire day of Saturday, each for different reasons. All of them are different personalities that are complete opposites. There is the jock, princess, criminal, basket-case and a brain. They are being supervised by Mr Vernon who hates children and his job and makes it clear to everyone that he does hate it. They all go there early in the morning and sit in the library.

They are given the challenge or writing a thousand word essay answering the question of who do they think they are. When Mr Vernon leaves to his office across the hall, Bender, the criminal, goes to the door and takes the screw out of it so that it will not stay open. After trying different scenarios to keep the door open, Vernon gives up and leaves them in the library alone. They begin taking it easy, ripping up books, chatting, stretching and even sleeping.

Throughout the day they learn about each other and that they really are not as different to each as they thought. Bender reveals why he is so angry at the world, his father is a very cruel man who has previously burned Bender with a cigar. The jock, Andrew, has a father who pushes and pushes him to be better and puts too much pressure on him. The princess, Claire, has parents that just use her to get back each other. They put her in the middle to get back at each other. The brain, Brian, has parents that constantly are at him to get straight A’s which is extra pressure on him as well as dealing with being a teenager. And then the basket case, Allison, has parents that ignore her and don’t see or listen to her.

They sneak out of the library for Bender to go and get drugs and when they try to get back before Vernon discovers they are missing, Vernon is already on his way to check up on them. To the group’s surprise, Bender goes to the gym to lead Vernon away so that the others can get back to the library undetected. Bender gets caught and is put in a closet on his own for the day and it is in the closet that Vernon threatens Bender which seems to really affect him.

Bender manages to get back to the library without detection. They all go and get high on Bender’s drugs and go wild in the library. They all sit together and reveal secrets to each other and it is at this point that tensions reach their boiling point. Claire shows her sensitive side and gives Allison a make over which results in Allison and Andrew sharing a moment. Bender returns to the closet at the end of the day and Claire goes to him. They also share a moment. When their detention is over they all leave the building together and Claire and Bender share a kiss as does Andrew and Allison. Brian write the paper for the whole group but keeps it short and sweet. He signs it from The Breakfast Club.

This film is one of my all time favourite films ever. Being part of the Brat Pack, it had to br brilliant. Star studded cast with Judd Nelson playing Bender, Emilio Estevez playing Andrew, Anthony Michael Hall plays Brian, Molly Ringwald plays Claire and Ally Sheedy plays Allison. 10 out of 10 without question. If you have a sense of humour then you will love it.

DON’T READ IF AFRAID OF MONSTERS – MONSTERS INC

Standard

Disney have taken film to a fun level with this one and i don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t love monsters after watching this one.

Mike and Sully are flat mates and best friends who work together in Monsters Incorporated. Their purpose in their job is to sneak into children’s rooms to frighten them. In their world, power is supplied by children’s screams. They have children’s closet doors and they go into them and frighten them while they sleep in their beds. All the employees compete against each other for getting the best screams and Sully has always been number one.

One day Sully sees a door on the floor after the day has ended and goes to check it out. He goes in the door and there is no one there and so he walks out. He soon discovers that a child has entered their world and he is immediately riddled with fear. Monsters believe that children are toxic to monsters. He hides behind objects and runs from the little girl. Sully discovers that she is cute little girl and doesn’t see how she can be toxic to him or others. He brings her back to his house and shows Mike. Mike reacts badly and wants nothing but to send her back through her door.

While thinking of a plan to get her back home without anyone finding out, they name her Boo. She begins to cause them trouble along the way but Sully cannot help but love her while Mike wants her to leave as soon as possible. After some clever thinking, they both manage to sneak Boo into Monsters Incorporated. When their boss, Mr Waternoose finds out what has been going on he says he will help them and retrieves a door. When the door arrives Sully sees that it is not Boo’s door and Mr Waternoose says that its theirs and pushes Mike and Sully through it. They are too late to get back through the door as it has been deactivated so they go to the nearest town to find a door to go through to get back to their world. Unfortunately, Mike and Sully have a fight and Sully heads back on his own. He gets back and finds Boo strapped to a chair by Randal who is going to use his new invention on how to get the most screams from children, but the catch is that they must kidnap children for it to work. Sully tries to rescue Boo but Randal begins to fight back and then Sully is soon saved by Mike. They grab Boo and run to get to her door. Sully and Mike gets separated while being chased by Mr Waternoose. Sully goes through the door and very quickly Mr Waternoose goes through the door after him. He knocks Sully across the room after confessing that he would kidnap a thousand children before he lets his company go down. When Mr Waternoose goes to grab Boo he sees that she is not there but is in fact a practice dummy that new monsters use to practice with. It turned out that Mike had gotten the Child Detection Agency in and they overheard the whole confession.

This had resulted in Mr Waternoose being arrested and Sully got to send Boo back home where she was safe. Unfortunately, Boo’s door was then destroyed so he could not visit her anymore. Sully and Mike took over the company and instead of scaring children, the monsters made them laugh which gave them even more power than before. Even after so many weeks had passed, Sully still missed Boo greatly. Mike brings Sully into a private room and surprises him with Boo’s door reformed. Sully opens the door and he hears Boo’s voice and he smiled.

This film is one of my favourites. It is still a film that i enjoy to this day along with many others. It is full of wit and humour that is not just for children but also for adults. I would give it 9 out of 10. It has the voice talents of John Goodman does the voice of the lovable Sully and the ever comical Billy Crystal does the voice of Mike.

ONCE UPON A TIME….. TANGLED

Standard

Disney has done it again. This is a film for all ages and you will love it. Adult or child, doesn’t matter because it is humour for everyone.

There was a magical flower that glowed and when a special song is sung to it then it will cure any sickness and make the old return to young again. When the queen became very ill when she was pregnant, the kingdom went in search of the flower. They find it and the queen is cured and she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl with golden blonde hair. It turned out that there was an old woman who frequently when to the flower to make her young again. Eighteen years later, the baby is a teenager living in a tower with a woman who she believes to be her mother and has never stepped foot outside of the tower under the belief that there is nothing but danger outside. When her mother, Gothel, returns to the tower RapunzelĀ  asks that for her birthday if she could go to the floating lights. The floating lights are lanterns that are lit every year on her birthday that are made by her parents to remember that daughter. Mother Gothel yells and says no and for her to never ask again. When her mother is gone for a few days she ends up planning to go to the floating lights without her mother knowing.

Flynn Rider is a thief who goes and steals the princess’s crown from the palace. When he is chased by the guys he stitched over and the kingdoms guards he finds himself climbing a tower and is knocked unconscious by a frying pan by Rapunzel. She finds the crown and hides it in the tower to blackmail Flynn into taking her to the floating lights and to return her safely. They go off on this journey and they run into some obstacles along the way. But they also make some new friends and discover some new things about themselves.

When they get into some trouble, Rapunzel reveals her magic hair to Flynn. They soon make it to the kingdom and they see there are symbols for a flower all over the kingdom. Flynn sees that this trip means a lot to Rapunzel so he takes her on a row-boat and tells her that she should be in the best seat for a view. When the sun sets they seen the lights float up into the sky and then Rapunzel and Flynn shared a kiss. They go back to shore and Flynn goes to other side of the shore when he sees the guys he stitched up and gives them the crown because he learned that he loves Rapunzel. They knock him out and tie him to the boat making it look like he is stealing the crown and running away. Mother Gothel finds Rapunzel after she had hired the goons to do that to Flynn and she takes Rapunzel home to the tower.

Flynn gets arrested and is sentenced to hang for his crime. Rapunzel when back at the tower begins to have flash backs and remembers that she was kidnapped and knows why Mother Gothel did it and fights back and tells her that she will never let her use her again. Flynn is broken out of jail by the friends that he and Rapunzel made on their journey and then he goes to the tower to save Rapunzel. When he gets in the window he sees Rapunzel tied up and then Mother Gothel stabs him. Rapunzel promises that she will go with Mother Gothel and not try to escape if she lets her heel Flynn. Flynn knows that if she does that then she will be a prisoner forever and so he cuts off all her hair. Due to Mother Gothel living off the hair life times, she falls out the window and turns to dust.Rapunzel cries and sings the magic song even though she knows that it is too late for Flynn to survive. It is when one of her tears falls on Flynn that he wakes up and lives. They then go to the kingdom so Rapunzel can be reunited with her true parents. Flynn does a voice over and reveals that he and Rapunzel decided to get married and they lived happy ever after.

Absolutely love this film. Could not fault it at all, nothing but brilliant. It is full of fun and new characters that will be loved all over the world. They have the perfect people doing the voices in this film. We have Mandy Moore playing Rapunzel, Zachary Levi doing the voice of Flynn Rider and Donna Murphy plying the mean Mother Gothel. 10 out of 10 without a doubt.

NOTHING SAYS CHRISTMAS LIKE – CHRISTMAS WITH THE KRANKS!!!

Standard

This a very good film that you cannot help but laugh at when watching it. You will love it if you have a sense of humour.

Luther Krank and Nora Krank bring their daughter Blaire to the airport for her to spend a year in the peace core. From the very off, things just seem to be going wrong for them. Luther sees an advert for a winter cruise and starts to look into it. He adds up some figures and finds out that they spend on average 5ooo dollars on Christmas every year. At dinner one evening, Luther discloses his idea to Nora about going on a cruise that Christmas instead of celebrating the holiday. They figured that with their daughter not being there for Christmas it wasn’t going to be the same so they decide to ‘skip Christmas.’

They let their close neighbours know that they will not being putting up their community Frosty or sending cards, exchanging gifts, putting up a tree or having anything to do with Christmas this year. They are very soon criticised for this decision. They have stories written in the paper about them and people whispering about them behind their backs.

It is Christmas Eve and they are packing for their cruise the following day, when Luther and Nora get a surprise phone call from Blaire. She is at the airport with her now fiance Enrique and tells them that she is coming home for Christmas. Nora is so excited and straight away gives out to Luther about coming up the plan of skipping Christmas. She begins getting things ready for their annual Christmas Eve party. When Luther tries to put up their Frosty on the roof, all the neighbours gather round to watch but Luther looses his balance and falls. He gets tangles in the rope and then the neighbours run to help and it is then that they find out about Blaire returning home and expecting a traditional Christmas as she always had. It is at this moment that everyone works together to help out the Kranks for Blaire’s sake. They manage to get everything done in time and Blaire never knew any different. During the party, Nora gives a beautiful speech to thank her neighbours for their help and showing them the true meaning of community. When it comes to Luther’s turn to give a speech he doesn’t even say thank you. He goes into the kitchen to then sulk about missing his cruise. He then sees out of theĀ  door, his neighbours across the street that have been told that one of them has cancer again, so Luther goes over and gives them the tickets for the cruise. This is a huge gesture for Luther as himself and Walt have never gotten on. Luther and Nora then are on the same page and begin to truly enjoy their holiday.

This film has a great cast and the comedy king is leading the role of Luther played by Tim Allen. His wife Nora is played by the incredible Jamie Lee Curtis. I would recommend this film for anyone who is up for a laugh and sees all angles of Christmas. For the type of film that it is then I would give it 10 out of 10. You’ll love it!!!

CHILD HOOD FAVOURITE!!! ANASTASIA

Standard

Animated film that every young girl grew up loving. Watching this film you can’t help but sing along and smile.

This film begins in 1916 when The Grand Duchess Anastasia goes up to her grandmother, The Dowager Empress Marie. They are at a ball that their family, the royal family are hosting. Grandmother gives Anastasia a music box that sings her lullaby and a necklace that says ‘Together in Paris.’ She gives these gifts because she is returning Paris. All of a sudden, Rasputin who is a sorcerer that was banished by the royal family, appears at the ball and cast a spell that will kill the entire Russian royal family in two weeks.Rasputin sold his soul for the power to kill the Russian Family.

A fortnight later, there are riots at the palace and all of the royal family are executed. Anastasia and her grandmother try to run away but Anastasia runs back to her room to retrieve her music box. They are then trapped but a servant boy comes from a hidden door and leads them into it that will get them out of the palace safely. They are fleeing to the train station when Rasputin jumps out a them and ends up getting dragged under the ice. Grandmother gets pulled up on the train and is trying to pull Anastasia up when she falls and is left unconscious on the train tracks.

10 years pass and Anastasia is going by the name of Anya because since she was found wandering the streets of St Petersburg when she was 8 years old, she cannot remember her name or anything of her past. Now that she is 18 she is leaving the orphanage she is supposed to go to the fisherman’s village to start a job but ends up heading to St Petersburg because a dog takes her scarf and goes in that direction. She tries to get a train ticket to Paris but cannot go because she has no exit visa. A woman over hears and tells her to go and see a man named Dimitri at the old palace. While Anya is going in search of the palace, Dimitri finds out that the Dowager Empress has put up a reward for the return of her grand-daughter because she believe her to still be alive. Dimitri holds auditions for an Anastasia so that he can claim the reward money. Unsuccessful in finding a girl to play her, Dimitri and his friend Vladimir relax in the palace and think things over. Dimitri sees Anya and sees how much she looks like Anastasia and convinces her that she could be the royal princess that has been lost and so they set off for Paris.

The three plus the darling dog, Pucca, begin their journey and after having trouble on a train they go onto a ship and then car and foot. Dimitri and Vladimir teach Anya the history of the royal family and everything that she would need to know to convince the Dowager Empress that she is the real princess. They arrive at the Dowager Empress’s home in Paris to learn that she will see no more girls that are pretending to be the Grand Duchess. Vladimir luckily has the affections of Anastasia’s cousin Sophie who asks the questions to Anya who passes them all and tells them that Grandmother will be at the Russian Ballet that evening and they may have a chance to see her then. After a make over into a glamorous gown, they all head off to the ballet and wait til the end of the performance to see the Grandmother. Dimitri goes in to introduce Anya but then the Dowager Empress figures out that Dimitri is a con artist and refuses to hear anymore from him.

Dimitri had fallen in love with Anya along the journey to Paris and wants reunite Anya with her grandmother for her sake instead of his own personal gain. While Sophie was asking her questions to Anya, the last question was how did she escape from the palace while it was under siege. Anya said she remembered there was a boy who opened a wall. It was at that moment that Dimitri realised that she was the real Anastasia because it was he who was the boy who opened to secret door, he was the servant boy who saved them.

Dimitri sneakily gets into the Dowager Empress’s car and drives her to where Anastasia is packing her bags and tells her that she must at least talk to her and she will know that it is her grand-daughter. To help convince her, he reveals the music box that Anastasia had gone back to her room to get but dropped when the palace was under siege. The Anya recognises the smell of peppermint that Grandmother uses for her hands and then all her memories return. It is when they both put Anya’s necklace together with the music box that they both realise that they are finally reunited at long last.

Dimitri is summoned by the Dowager Empress and is offered his reward money as promised but he refuses it and the now Anastasia is still disgusted with after she heard that he was a con artist just using her for money. It is only at the ball to celebrate her return that Anastasia learns that he did not take the money and did love her after all. She goes running after Pucca when he flees through the gardens but grows fearful when all the hedges grow up around her and she ends up on the large bridge faced with Rasputin who is determined to have her killed. She fights back but once in peril, Dimitri comes to her rescue. They fight back together and destroy Rasputin once and for all.

Anastasia leaves her crown and a note for her grandmother to say that she will be back with her in Paris again soon. The film then ends with Anastasia and Dimitri dancing on a boat on the Seine.

I love this film from my childhood and still love it to this day. I believe that children now-a-days would enjoy this film also. With the voice talents Meg Ryan as Anastasia, John Cusack doing the voice of Dimitri and the legendary Angela Lansbury doing the voice of the Dowager Empress. 10 out of 10 for this film. Beautiful music throughout.

HAVE YOUR TISSUES AT THE READY FOR – CHARLIE ST CLOUD

Standard

When I seen the trailer for this film i wanted to see but unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to see it in the cinema so I bought it. I am very glad that Idecided to buy this dvd and you will be too if you do the same.

Charlie is teenager that has taken on the father role for his younger brother, Sam. Their father left and never came back so Charlie has always looked out for his mother and brother. He really took his brother under his wing and they enjoyed the activity of sailing together. They were so impressive sailing that Charlie gets recruited with a college scholarship to Stanford University. Sam wants to get better at baseball so after Charlie’s graduation ceremony, Charlie promises that he will practice with Sam everyday at sunset in the woods by the cemetary.

That evening, Charlie wants to go out and celebrate with his friends but has been put on ‘Sam duty’ so has to stay home to mind his brother. Charlie gets his dinner ready and tries to sneak out but is unsuccessful when Sam catches him and wants to be dropped somewhere. While waiting at a turn, they get rear ended and turned sideways. They get hit by a truck and in the ambulance, Charlie is revived. When he comes about he sees Sam on the gurney next to him, dead. At the burial of Sam, Charlie runs through the graveyard and into the woods after refusing to put Sam’s baseball glove in the grave. He falls to his knees and cries over the loss of his brother. The baseball rolls back to him and looks up to see Sam’s spirit. Sam reminds him of his promise to practice with him everyday at sunset.

Five years later, Charlie is the caretaker at the cemetary while his mother has moved away from the heartache. Charlie is looked at as an outcast in the community by everyone except Tess, a fellow sailor and former classmate. There is one place that Charlie feels like his old self and that is at sunset when he goes to the clearing in the woods to play ball with Sam everyday.

Charlie finds himself staring at Tess when he sees her and she does the same. Charlie finds Tess by her father’s grave one morning with a head injury. She explains that she got hurt when she was out testing her sailboat for her 6 month sailing race. Charlie takes her back to his house to clean up her cut. When she leaves, Charlie goes after her to ask her to dinner. She agrees and goes back to his house for dinner that evening. They end up spending the night together underneath the stars. The next day Charlie finds a note on his door from Tess saying ‘Come find me.’ He goes off in search of her and finds her on his sailboat. They go out on the water together and spend the day together. Charlie hears the sound of the cannons which signals sunset. He tells Tess that he has to go and runs to the clearing. Sam is crying yells at Charlie that he is late. Sam tells him that he know that he would be late because he could feel him forgetting about him. Sam then see that Tess is behind Charlie and so he disappears. Charlie then realises that the more he is in the world with Tess, the less he is in Sam’s world. He says goodbye and has her leave.

The next day, Charlie is in a bar having a coffee when the chief of police comes in and tells everyone that Tess is missing. She went out on her sailboat three days previous and never came back. Charlie runs to his sailboat to discover that has been untouched and that is has been Tess’s spirit that he has been spending time with. He goes to Tess’s coach and tells him he knows where Tess is and that he will be taking his boat to go and get her. They go out and after searching for a full day and night they still have not found her.

Due to Charlie not going to the clearing to see Sam at sunset, Sam now knows that for Charlie to live the second chance he has been given, he must move on first. Sam leaves the clearing and goes through the woods. He begins to have flashes of his life and happy times with Charlie. He then disappears into the light. Charlie then sees a flash of light over the water that lands at a group of rocks. He feels that it is Sam showing him the way. They go to the rocks and Charlie dives into the water to search for Tess after spotting her sailboat. He ends up banging into a rocks but still moves through the rocks and finds Tess unconscious. He takes off her life jacket and holds her to warm her up. Charlie then wakes up in the hospital and finds out that he and Tess will be fine.

Charlie and Tess fall in love and then go off to sail around the world together.

The main character Charlie is played by heart-throb Zac Efron, Tess is played by the beautiful Amanda Crew and young Sam is played by a very talented Charlie Tahan. This film has an excellent cast and directed by Burr Steers who directed 17 Again who also starred Zac Efron.

This a very heart warming tale that I would recommend to anyone. It really captures your attention the beginning until the last scene. The film is based on the best-selling novel, The Life and Death of Charlie St Cloud, by Ben Sherwood. 10 out of 10 without a doubt.
